How fees work
How paying for therapy works here, in the order people tend to ask.
Insurance we work with
Dr. Pierce is out of network, so Inlet Therapy does not bill your insurance, and that includes Medicare and Medicaid. Some plans pay part of the cost of out-of-network care. Your plan decides how much, if anything.
Some PPO and POS plans reimburse out-of-network care
Health savings and flexible spending cards are accepted where your plan allows them for counseling
If you pay yourself
You pay for each session on the day. Your fee is set out in writing before you begin. A limited number of reduced-fee places may be open, so ask when you write. Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session; a later cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the session.
Receipts for reimbursement
At the end of each month you can have an itemized receipt, called a superbill, to send to your plan if you want to ask for reimbursement. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Whether your plan pays is its decision, and we cannot promise that it will.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost before you start. We give you a written estimate before your first session. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that comes in $400 or more above it.
Checking your benefits
Because we are out of network, we do not check your benefits for you. Before your first session, call your plan and ask whether it reimburses out-of-network outpatient mental health care, what your deductible is and what share it pays.
Your fee is given in writing before the first session.
